June 16, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs got 7 2/3 innings from Drew Anderson (3-2) Friday on their way to an 8-1 victory against the Pawtucket Red Sox at Coca-Cola Park. Collin Cowgill finished the game 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a home run, a walk and four runs driven in.
The Pigs tallied six hits in the five-run bottom of the fourth inning against William Cuevas (4-4). The inning started with a double by Matt McBride, one of three extra base hits in the inning for the Pigs. Cowgill drove in two on a double down the third base line to put the Pigs up 4-0. Mitch Walding followed with a home run into the Bud Light Trough.
The top of the order for the Pigs drove in all eight runs. Dean Anna collected a pair of singles and an RBI in the fourth. Cowgill, hitting second, drove in four, adding a two-run blast into left field in the sixth to put the Pigs up 8-0. Walding drove in the first run of the game for the Pigs with a RBI single in the third, then capped off the fourth inning rally with his ninth homer of the season.
Anderson tossed a career high 7 2/3 innings in the win for the Pigs. He allowed just five hits and struck out four without issuing a walk. The one run charged to Anderson came after an inherited runner scored in the top of the eighth inning on a double by Tzu-Wei Lin. It was the longest outing for Anderson since he went seven-innings for Reading on June 10th.
The homestand concludes tomorrow with Tom Eshelman taking the mound for the Pigs at 1:35 p.m. For Father's Day, the first 2,000 men 18 and older will receive a Tube 6-pack cooler bag. Sick around after the game for a post-game catch on the field and Kids run the Bases presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network.
