Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, on Thursday announced that The Hanson Brothers, immortalized as members of the Charlestown Chiefs in the classic hockey movie, "Slap Shot," will be this year's inductees into the Mullet Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place at center ice during the first intermission of the Manchester Monarchs 7:35 p.m. contest against the Worcester IceCats on Friday, March 12 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Only single seats remain for Friday's game. The Hanson Brothers induction will highlight an evening of fun as the Monarchs pay tribute to hockey hair with Mullet Night II, sponsored by TRIMZ Family Haircut Center. As part of the celebration, the Monarchs will provide free Mullet wigs to the first 5,000 guys (and ladies if they want one) who enter the building.

Once inducted, the Hanson Brothers will join the likes of ESPN's Barry Melrose (class of 2003), actor Patrick Swayze (class of 2002), pitcher Randy Johnson (class of 2001) and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus (class of 2000) in the Mullet Hall of Fame, which recognizes members of the sports and entertainment industry who possess the proper ratio of short hair in the front (10 percent) and long hair in the back (90 percent).

Following their induction, the Hanson Brothers will be available for pictures and autographs in section 206 from the beginning of the second period until the conclusion of the game. Fans may purchase an 8 x 10 photo of the brothers or take their own picture for $10. The Hanson Brothers will provide their autographs for free.

A capacity crowd of 9,916 witnessed last year's first-ever Mullet Night celebration, held in conjunction with the Monarchs game against the Portland Pirates on February 21, 2003. Last year's event included the induction of Melrose into the Mullet Hall of Fame. Twelve-year-old Devin Tebo of Derry, New Hampshire was also awarded Grand Mullet of the Night honors for having the best Mullet in the state. Event organizers expect Tebo to defend his title when Mullet Night II returns on Friday.

Hockey fans across all of North America shared in last year's celebration, with CNN, CNN Headline News, ESPN's SportsCenter and ESPN's NHL2Night representing just a sample of the national media outlets that ran coverage of the event provided by Charlie Sherman of Manchester's WMUR Channel 9.

Individual tickets to Mullet Night II, sponsored by TRIMZ Family Haircut Center, are on sale now and can be purchased at the Verizon Wireless Arena box office. Individual tickets can also be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (603) 868-7300, or by visiting Ticketmaster on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.
