
Texas Stars Release Forward Doug Jones from PTO

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that right wing Doug Jones has been released from his professional tryout contract.
Jones, 25, appeared in four games with Texas and scored his first career AHL goal on March 2 vs. Oklahoma City. The Marietta, Georgia native tallied his first AHL assist on March 5 versus Chicago and posted a +1 rating over his stint with the Stars. Jones is in his first full professional season has 44 points (18 goals, 26 assists), 22 penalty minutes and a +16 rating in 54 ECHL games with the Gwinnett Gladiators. The 6-foot 205-pound forward played four years of NCAA Division I college hockey for Dartmouth College of the ECAC. In 127 career NCAA games for the Indians he tallied 107 points (29 goals, 78 points) and 107 penalty minutes. Jones led Dartmouth in scoring during his freshman year (2008-09) and was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team.
The Texas Stars conclude their five-game home stand on Wednesday, March 13th when they square off against the Abbotsford Heat at 7:30 p.m. at Cedar Park Center for an H-E-B Night and the last Winning Wednesday of the regular season.
