WEEK IN REVIEW

Tuesday, March 5th : Portland 4, at Connecticut 3 (SO) The Pirates started off the week with a shootout victory over the Connecticut Whale at the XL Center by a 4-3 score. Chris Conner had a goal and an assist for the Pirates and Andy Miele scored the game winner in the first round of the sudden death format of the shootout.

Friday, March 8th : Manchester 4, Portland 3 (OT) Portland dropped game 10 of the VIP Cup series, presented by VIP Parts, Tires and Service, by a 4-3 score in overtime. Portland scored 3 goals in the first, but were unable to hold the lead. Alexandre Bolduc had 2 assists in the game, and Chris Brow, Darian Dziurzynski, and Jordan Szwarz scored the Pirates goals.

Saturday, March 9th : Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4, Portland 3 (OT) In a very hotly contested battle, the Pirates fell in overtime to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 4-3 on Hall of Fame night. Chris Brown scored twice, but the Pirates were unable to hold on for the victory in a game that saw 39 penalty minutes assessed after the game had ended.

Sunday, March 10th : at Worcester 5, Portland 3 The Pirates traveled to Worcester for the last time this season, where they dropped a 5-3 decision. Portland managed to tie the game at 3 in the third period with goals from Alex Bolduc and Jordan Martinook just 51 seconds apart, but Adam Comrie scored for Worcester just 23 seconds after the Pirates tied the game to give Worcester the lead and the win.

THIS COMING WEEK

Wednesday, March 13th vs. Adirondack (7:00 PM) The Pirates will host the Adirondack Phantoms for the final time this season, and only time at the Cumberland County Civic Center, on Wednesday at 7 PM. Portland is 1-1 against Adirondack this season.

Saturday, March 16th vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (7:05 PM) The Pirates will face the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a rematch from March 9th on Saturday night. Puck drop is at 7:05 and the game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Channel 9.

Practice will be held at the Cumberland County Civic Center at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and is open to the public.

SALTY PETE'S PIRATES OF THE WEEK

1) Alexandre Bolduc is on a 4 game point streak, having scored a goal and tallied 3 assists this week.

2) Chris Brown had 4 goals this week, including 2 against WBS on Saturday

3) Jordan Martinook had a 3 point game (goal, 2 assists) vs. Worcester on Sunday.
