Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Albuquerque, NM - The Tacoma Rainiers let a big inning get the best of them in a 6-3 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes in front of 7,551 fans at Isotopes Park on Wednesday.

Tacoma held a 3-2 lead before the Isotopes jumped ahead with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

First baseman Jerry Sands belted a two-out, three-run home run that put Albuquerque on top and designated hitter John Lindsey hit a one-run double two batters later to solidify the Rainiers second consecutive loss.

The Rainiers originally held an early 2-0 lead after third baseman Alex Liddi hit a two-run home run, his 21st this season, with Matt Tuiasosopo aboard and one out in the top of the first inning. Tacoma's advantage stretched to three runs following a Carlos Peguero single that drove in Liddi in the third.

Isotopes starter Mike Parisi (2-1) held Tacoma to three runs on six hits and issued five walks and struck out four over six innings to collect the win. Reliever Travis Schlichting tossed one scoreless inning in the ninth to pick up his second save this season.

Right-hander Forrest Snow (0-1) was dealt the loss after surrendering six runs on eight hits over six innings of work. Snow entered the game in the top of second inning in relief of starter Mauricio Robles.

The Rainiers (55-57) look to bounce back when they take the field for the second game of their four-game set with the Isotopes at 6:05 p.m. on Thursday. Left-hander Anthony Vasquez (3-2, 3.24) is slated to start for Tacoma against right-hander Tim Sexton (3-5, 6.42) for Albuquerque.

The game will be broadcast live on South Sound Sports 850-AM and can be streamed online at www.tacomarainiers.
