Las Vegas, Nev. - In his first game since an option from Houston, Brett Wallace went 4-for-4 with a walk and three RBI, including the deciding ninth inning RBIs, leading the Oklahoma City RedHawks (49-63) to a 7-6 win over the Las Vegas 51s (55-57) before 3,019 Wednesday night at Cashman Field.
RedHawks reliever Douglas Arguello (4-6) induced an out of a left-hander and picked up a winning decision. Andy Van Hekken allowed six runs, five earned, with 13 hits over five and two-thirds innings without a decision. Las Vegas reliever Daniel Farquhar (3-4) allowed the deciding runs in the ninth inning for the blown save and loss.
Oklahoma City opened the scoring in the first inning when Wallace doubled in J.B. Shuck for a 1-0 score. Las Vegas answered with four first inning runs, including an RBI single from David Cooper, a two-run single from Darin Mastroianni and an RBI hit from Chris Woodward, for a 4-1 score.
The RedHawks added a second inning run when a Tommy Manzella groundout scored J.R. Towles for a 4-2 score. Oklahoma City tied the game with a two-run third inning. Brett Wallace singled, moved to third on a single and scored on an errant throw to second by catcher Ryan Budde for a 4-3 game. Late in the inning Anderson Hernandez scored on a single from Robinson Cancel for a 4-4 deadlock.
Las Vegas took a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning when Manny Mayorson singled in Mastroianni. The RedHawks immediately tied the game in the sixth when Jake Goebbert singled in Towles for a 5-5 score. The 51s again led in the bottom of the sixth on a David Cooper double play grounder when Mike McCoy scored from third for a 6-5 advantage.
The RedHawks rallied in the ninth inning. J.B. Shuck was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a fielder's choice sacrifice from Collin Delome and both scored when Wallace hit an infield chopper over a drawn in first baseman for two RBI and a 7-6 RedHawks lead.
LH Dallas Keuchel will make his Oklahoma City debut on Thursday night against Las Vegas RH Scott Richmond. Live radio coverage is available on AM 1340 The Game, 1340thegame.com and through the IHeartRadio application.
