The Express are 7-3 in their last 10 games and have won three of four after last night's 3-2 victory. The Bees are 7-3 in their last 10 games, snapping a four-game winning streak last night. LAST NIGHT'S GAMES
Leonys Martin reached on an error to open the eighth, stole second, advanced to third on an errant throw and scored on Nick Green's double as the Express rallied past the Bees 3-2. Rian Kiniry's two-out, two-run single snapped a scoreless tie in the fourth, but Round Rock tied the game in the sixth on a Green RBI double and a Chad Tracy sacrifice fly. Mark Hamburger earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, and Merkin Valdez recorded his fifth save. Green was 2-for-4; Martin was 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored.
ROUND ROCK AMONG TOP PCL TEAMS
The Express (66-46, .589) own the PCL's second-best record behind Sacramento (68-44, .607). Round Rock is three-and-a-half games ahead of Omaha (62-49, .559) in the overall American Conference standings; the Storm Chasers have won six straight. Only six of 16 PCL teams are above .500.
DIVISION STANDINGS UPDATE
Round Rock (66-46, .589) maintained an eight-game lead over Albuquerque (57-54, .514) in the American Southern Division standings with last night's 3-2 win over Salt Lake. The Isotopes defeated Tacoma 6-3 last night. It marked only the third time in the last 15 games that Round Rock and Albuquerque had the same result. The Express are 29-15 since June 18, during which time Albuquerque is 19-25. Round Rock has at least shared the division lead following 90 of 112 games this season and has led the division outright since June 25. New Orleans (55-57, .491) trails Round Rock by 11 games, while Oklahoma City (49-63, .438) is 17 games back.
JONES APPROACHING MILESTONE
Express manager Bobby Jones enters tonight's game with 1,495 career managerial wins - all of which have come in the Texas Rangers organization. His tally includes stints with Class-A Charlotte (1988-1990), Double-A Tulsa (1991-1992, 1996-2000), Triple-A Oklahoma City (1993-1994, 2002-2010) and Round Rock. Jones' most successful season at the Triple-A level was 2004 when he led Oklahoma City to 81 wins and the PCL American Southern Division title. He owns 12 division titles and guided the 1998 Tulsa squad to a Texas League championship.
