
T.J. Kemp Signs Professional Tryout Agreement With Manchester

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman, T.J. Kemp (see Royals' News, August 15, 2006) has been loaned to Manchester, where he signed a Professional Tryout Agreement. Kemp (5'11"/198 lbs.), a second year pro from Pickering, Ontario, led the Royals' defenseman with thirteen goals in sixty games last season (13g - 27a = 40pts). The Mercyhurst College graduate played fourteen AHL games last year with four different teams: the Peoria Rivermen, the Iowa Stars, the Milwaukee Admirals and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In a separate transaction, defenseman Scott Crawford (see Royals' News, August 10, 2005) has been returned to Reading from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL. Crawford did not play in either of Hamilton's first two games of the 2006-07 season. Crawford a fifth year pro from Etobicoke, Ontario, played in the Norwegian Elite League last season, scoring three goals and adding seventeen assists in thirty four games. Crawford (6'0"/195 lbs.), who was a member of the 1998 NCAA Champion University of Michigan Wolverines, played 122 games over two seasons with the Peoria Rivermen in 2002-04.
The Royals hit the ice in the team's first pre-season game of the year against the Trenton Titans tonight at 7:05 pm at the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex, which is located at 3103 Paper Mill Road in Wyomissing (610-376-2100) Tickets cost $8.00 and are still available for purchase directly at the Body Zone. Game two of the pre-season between the Royals and Titans will be held tomorrow afternoon (3:00 pm) at the Grundy Recreation Center located at 475 Beaver Road in Bristol, Pennsylvania (215-788-3311).
