
T-Bones Unable to Overcome Four Errors in 9-5 Loss

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones (5-3) fell short against the Grand Prairie AirHogs (5-3), 9-5, in the first game of a three-game series Friday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
T.J. Large (1-1) started off the first inning in front of a crowd of 4,176, striking out four of his first seven batters to open the first two innings of the game. In the third, the AirHogs capitalized on three errors by Kansas City to gain a 2-0 advantage without the benefit of a hit. Kansas City answered with four runs against Josh Rainwater (2-0) in the bottom of the inning, scoring the first on an RBI single by Rico Washington. Ray Sadler capped off the frame with a three-run home run, his second of the year.
Grand Prairie immediately reclaimed the lead with five runs on four hits and one error in the top of the fourth, bringing the score to 7-4. Zane Chavez and Cesar Nicolas each collected two-run singles to highlight the inning. The AirHogs scored their final two runs in the sixth, chasing Large from the game with two outs in the frame.
Large surrendered nine runs, six earned, on five hits in the loss.
Aharon Eggleston doubled to begin the sixth and later scored on a double-play groundout for the final T-Bones run of the game. Rainwater earned the victory after allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out nine and walking one in six innings of work.
Kyle Dahman finished the game for Kansas City, allowing three hits over three and one-thirds scoreless innings. Grand Prairie pitchers retired 10 of the final 13 batters they faced.
The two teams battle in game two of the weekend series Saturday night as Kansas City sends Reid Santos (0-1, 18.92) to face Jae Jung (1-0, 5.07) and the AirHogs. First pitch is set for 7:05.
