St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (May 20, 2011) - St. Paul Saints games have never been mistaken with a night of entertainment from the Chippendales. That could change this Saturday night. Saints players will show off their ripped ab muscles and chiseled chests during The Naked Game: Enrico Pallazzo Night in a tribute to funnyman Leslie Nielsen.

On Saturday, May 21 Saints players will wear their birthday suits (at least on top). Special "naked" jerseys will be worn during that evening's game in honor of the The Naked Gun movies following the death this past November of Leslie Nielsen. Fans, however, are required to come fully clothed to the evening's contest against the Fort Worth Cats.

A classic movie scene combining baseball and fun takes place in The Naked Gun when Leslie Nielsen, playing Detective Frank Drebin, sings the National Anthem at a baseball game disguised as renowned opera singer Enrico Pallazo. He follows that up by getting behind the plate to call balls and strikes. Nielsen's passing in November prompted an ode to his Naked Gun trilogy.

"With all the antics we've done at the ballpark it's only fitting we pay tribute to a man who brought fun and humor to his craft," said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Derek Sharrer.

This is believed to be the first ever "naked" baseball game played, although not the first time players have come out of their uniforms. Steve Lyons famously began removing his pants during a game in 1990 before realizing what he was doing.

The "naked" jersey tops will be listed in a silent auction during the game with winning bidders receiving their autographed, game-worn jerseys from the Saints following the game.

Tickets are available for all home games starting at $5 for general admission, $8 for outfield reserved and $12 for infield reserved. Friday Home Games with post-game fireworks (except July 1, August 26) are an additional $2 per ticket. July 1 and August 26 feature extended post-game fireworks and are an additional $3 per ticket. Tickets purchased on the Day of the Game are an additional $1 per ticket. Children under the age of 12 and seniors 65 and older receive $1 off the admission price. Children under 2 that don't require a seat are free.

Tickets for all Saints regular season home games are available now in person at the Saints Box Office, by phone at 651-644-6659 or online at saintsbaseball.com.
