Rockford Aviators News Release

Max White's two run single in the bottom of the eight inning was the difference in the contest as the Windy City Thunderbolts (6-13) rallied to defeat the Rockford Aviators (15-5) 4-3 in Frontier League baseball action Saturday night at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood, IL.

Rockford jumped to an initial 3-0 lead in the second and third innings on the strength of run scoring hits from Jaron Shepherd, Tanner Witt and Dusty Robinson. Meanwhile, starter Kyle Allen limited the Thunderbolts to just single runs in the third and seventh innings. However, the Thunderbolts rallied for the game's decisive runs against reliever Matt Frahm (0-1) in the eighth. Cameron Giannini (1-0) picked up the win with 1.2 innings of relief work, while James Jones recorded his second save by retiring the Aviators in order in the ninth.

The teams conclude their series Sunday afternoon (2:05 pm) at Standard Bank Park before the Aviators return home to begin a six game homestand Tuesday night (June 9, 6:35 pm) versus the Lake Erie Crushers at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL.
