Syracuse Crunch Irish Night Saturday Benefits St. Patrick Hunger Project
February 26, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Syracuse Crunch News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch announced details of Irish Night to be held at the club's home game Saturday, Feb. 28, against the Utica Comets. A portion of each ticket sold will benefit the St. Patrick Hunger Project when the code IRISH is used.
Crunch fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the game to benefit the St. Patrick Hunger Project. Food collected over the next month will be distributed to the Interreligious Food Consortium, an umbrella agency for more than 70 food pantries and meal sites throughout Onondaga County. Barrels to collect donations will be stationed in the main lobbies on both sides of the War Memorial Arena.
The mission of the St. Patrick Hunger Project is to help support the community network of hunger-related agencies in meeting the food needs of the individuals and families they serve. By educating Central New Yorkers about An Gorta Mor in Ireland (The Great Hunger), the St. Patrick Hunger Project hopes to focus the efforts of fellow Syracusans on the need to fight hunger locally and year 'round, especially during the month of March when food supplies at the agencies are lower. The Food Bank of Central New York uses St. Patrick Hunger Project's cash donations to supply residents with fresh fruits and vegetables, resulting in a healthier diet.
Tickets benefiting the St. Patrick Hunger Project can be purchased online through Ticketmaster using the password IRISH, in person at the Oncenter Box Office or Syracuse Crunch office using the code IRISH, or by calling the office at (315) 473-4444 and using the code IRISH.
