DAVENPORT, IA -- Omar Burgos snapped a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to help the Swing of the Quad Cities to a 2-1 over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Monday night at John O'Donnell Stadium. Julio DePaula picked up his sixth win of the season and the Swing snapped a six game losing streak.

Evel Bastida extended his hitting streak to seven games with an RBI single in the top of the first inning to give Wisconsin a 1-0 lead.

Kyle Phillips tied the game in the bottom of the second inning with a one-out solo home run.

After that, the pitchers settled in for a duel. Swing starter Nick Blackburn retired the final twelve batters he face. His Timber Rattler counterpart Tom Oldham held Quad Cities off the scoreboard until the seventh.

The Rattlers had runners at second and third with one out in the top of the seventh against DePaula and loaded the bases with two out. But, DePaula got out of the jam.

Burgos worked the count to 3-2 with runners at first and second and one out in the Swing half of the seventh and lined a single into leftcenter to put the Swing (19-23) up 2-1.

The Rattlers (19-24) got the tying run aboard with two out in the ninth against Levale Speigner. Jeremy Dutton drew a walk and Oswaldo Navarro came on to pinch run. Wladimir Balentien sent a hard grounder toward short that hit Navarro to end the game.

Game two of the series is set for Tuesday night. Jason Mackintosh (0-1, 2.45ERA) gets the start for the Rattlers. Errol Simonitsch (3-1, 2.44ERA) is the scheduled starter for the Swing. Game time is 7:00pm.
