We have a winner! Casey will be the lucky one to accompany Ian on his date. Heidi, Lindsey, Kylee and Casey all participated in events during the game. These events included throwing out a first pitch, the Blackthorn Chipping contest and they cheered on the mascots in the Martin's Produce Race. In their spare time, they hung out in the Upper Deck with Ian watching the game and getting to know each other a little better. In the end Ian had a tough decision and chose Casey as his date. Ian and Casey will be picked up in a limo courtesy of Royal Excursion and be taken to Tippecanoe Place for dinner and then head to Cinemark to catch a movie. Details on how the date went will be in the Silver Hawks E-Newsletter the week after the date. The date is TBD.
Johnson and Hammock Achieve Perfection
Randy Johnson's career is now as perfect as they come. The Big Unit did more than turn back the clock on his amazing career Tuesday night. Johnson tossed a perfect game, beating the Braves, 2-0, at Turner Field and proved that this 40-year-old superstar can still dominate an opponent. "A game like this was pretty special," said Johnson. "It doesn't come along very often. "Not bad for being 40 years old. Everything was locked in." Former Silver Hawk Robbie Hammock, had a lot to do with this night as he called the entire game from behind the plate. Along with Robbie, other former Silver Hawks Matt Kata and Chad Tracy were of the first to join Johnson on the mound to celebrate his achievement. When Robby Hammock caught Randy Johnson for the first time last year, the wide-eyed rookie had a lump in his throat. "I was scared," Hammock said Wednesday. "I didn't know the night before. I didn't know that day, either. I just walked in and saw my name in the lineup. I thought, 'All right, here we go. This is what it's all about.'" Hammock felt a different kind of nervousness as he caught the Big Unit's perfect game in a 2-0 victory Tuesday night over the Atlanta Braves. The longer Johnson prevented the Braves from putting a player on base, Hammock had his first glimpse of big-time baseball. For Johnson, such experiences are fun, but not entirely shocking from a five-time Cy Young Award winner and co-MVP of a World Series. Not so with Hammock, who ran toward the mound after the final out and jumped in Johnson's arms. "Last night it took me a while to come down after the game," Hammock said. "I knew right away what that experience was, but it's a little different when you actually live it. You're somewhat tense in the game, and all of a sudden it happens. You don't know what to think, how to react. But I knew it was something special at the end of the game." To read more about this magical evening go to www.azdiamondbacks.com
