Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA - The Kansas City Royals have promoted Burlington Bees left-handed pitcher Dusty Hughes to the Wilmington Blue Rocks, the organization's high-A affiliate in the Carolina League. Hughes leaves as the Bees top pitcher with a 4-2 record and a 1.56 ERA in eight starts. He ranks fourth in the Midwest League in ERA and sixth with 52 innings pitched. In his first start of the year, he combined with RH Jake Mullis on a no-hitter against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Community Field on April 12th. He allowed just one earned run in his first five starts and his first two losses came in 1-0 games with the opponent winning on an unearned run on each occasion.

The Bees will not receive a new player to fill the open roster spot at this time. RH Robbie McClellan (1-1, 3.06) will start in Hughes' place tomorrow night at Peoria.
