Sweeney Sent to Extended Spring Training

LANSING, Mich. -- The Lansing Lugnuts, in conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays, announced Wednesday that third baseman Kellen Sweeney has been transferred to Extended Spring Training with third baseman Gustavo Pierre transferred to the Lugnuts' roster from Extended Spring Training in a corresponding move.

Sweeney, 20, was batting .179 in 43 games in his first season in the Midwest League.

Pierre, 20, began the 2011 season in Lansing and batted .187 with two homers, 18 RBIs and 36 errors in 56 games. He finished the season with the Rookie-level Bluefield Blue Jays, supplying a .252 average, six homers and 23 RBIs in 63 games.

The Lugnuts' roster currently comprises 25 active members and three players on the Disabled List. An updated official roster is attached in both horizontal and vertical formats.
