Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

LAST TIME OUT: The RailRiders scored twice in the ninth, but the comeback fell short in a 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Bisons on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field. The RailRiders dropped three straight to finish the homestand 2-4.

SNAPPING THE SLIDE: SWB's two runs in the ninth halted the team's longest scoreless streak of the season at 18 innings. The team plated a pair on Aaron Judge's first Triple-A home run on Thursday against Louisville in the 15-2 loss. Going back to Wednesday's action, the RailRiders have scored four runs over their last 28 innings, including no runs in 26 of those frames.

SHUTOUT HISTORY: With their ninth-inning rally, the RailRiders avoided the franchise's first back-to-back shutout losses since the 2009 squad was blanked in four straight games from May 10-13. Those SWB Yankees lost on consecutive days at Louisville by identical 3-0 scores, then fell at home to Charlotte 1-0 and 2-0. They ended their scoreless drought at 44 innings with a first-frame run in a 1-0 win over Charlotte. That came in the opener of a May 15 doubleheader to ignite a string of three straight shutout wins. That SWB team ended the year a league-best in 16-8 shutout games, boasting the circuit's highest win total and best winning percentage. The team also won the division, but fell in the Governors' Cup Championship Series to Durham.

STREAKING STROKE: Despite a nearly week-long layoff in the wake of being hit in the head with a fastball, Austin Romine has assembled a 14-game hitting streak. He has hit .357 (20-for-56) over his run with 13 RBIs. Four of his five home runs and 21 of his 30 RBIs have come on the road, but his home contact clip (.270) sits just below his road number (.271). Romine surpassed Rob Refsnyder's 11-game run from May 10-21 as the longest by a 2015 RailRider. Only Columbus' Jose Ramirez (17) owns a longer active hitting streak in the IL. The only other hitting streak longer than Romine's in the league this season: Durham's Taylor Motter composed a 16-gamer from June 3-20.

A LITTLE HELP?: Starter Kyle Davies (5-6) logged a quality start but left down 3-0 en route to his third straight loss. He has gone 4-1 in six road outings and 1-5 in eight starts at PNC Field. Run support has been a problem. In his six losses, SWB had plated three total runs before he was yanked. Including runs scored after his departure from those games, he received nine scores in those six setbacks.

ROAD WARRIORS: The RailRiders stand five games below .500 at PNC Field (19-24) and 14 games over on the road (24-10). The team has hit .281 on the road compared to a .259 mark at home. On the road, SWB has scored 178 runs in 34 games (5.2/game). At home, the squad has plated 159 runs in 43 games (3.7/game). The pitching has performed better on the road (3.45 ERA) than at home (3.47 ERA). No IL team has a better road winning percentage than the RailRiders (.706), who have won 17 of 20 away from PNC Field.

JUGGLING THE ORDER: Yesterday saw some significant changes to the RailRiders' lineup order. Judge hit second, the highest he has ever hit in his short time at Triple-A. He was usually a two-hole hitter while with Double-A Trenton this year. Ramon Flores hit third for just the fourth time with SWB this season. He had spent most of the season in the two-hole. For the first time in 69 games played this season, Rob Refsnyder did not hit third. Instead, the second baseman batted fourth. The team leader in home runs and RBIs, Kyle Roller, hit fifth for the first time all season. He had usually been in the clean-up spot. The foursome went a combined 5-for-12 with all of the team's four walks and each of the unit's two runs scored. The rearranged order meant left-right balance throughout.

OFF THE RAILS: SWB is an IL-best 17-9 in June...The RailRiders have lost a season-high-tying three in a row at home...They had not lost back-to-back games home or road since a three-game slide from May 30-June 1...Diego Moreno fired three scoreless innings behind Davies...In his 11 home appearances, Moreno owns a 1.35 ERA and a .171 batting average against.
