Ontario, CA - Forwards Brett Sutter scored twice and forward Mike Amadio tallied three assists to lead the Ontario Reign (28-14-8-0) past the Rockford IceHogs (21-26-8-3) 4-3 Sunday evening at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Forward Jonny Brodzinski finished with a goal and an assist, and Sam Herr and Sean Backman also scored to help the Reign win for the fourth time in the last six games.

Head Coach Mike Stothers thought the team played well: "I thought it was an entertaining game and the right team came out on the right end of it so I thought it was a real good bounce back for us."

Sutter scored his first goal of the night 51 seconds into the first frame to give Ontario a quick 1-0 lead. Defenseman Kurtis MacDermid fired the initial shot that went off Amadio and Sutter tucked it past netminder Jeff Glass. The IceHogs responded with a goal of their own on the power play when defenseman Ville Pokka fed the puck to forward Spencer Abbott who tapped the puck into the net at 1:44.

The Reign started off the second period strong, scoring two goals within the first 6 minutes to gain a 3-1 edge. However, momentum shifted in favor of the IceHogs after Abbott scored his second goal at 8:20. Minutes later, defenseman Carl Dahlstrom net the equalizer to even it up at 11:49. Ontario fought to regain momentum and got it back thanks to an Amadio swipe from the neutral zone that Brodzinski fired towards the net. Sutter rebounded the shot and Brodzinski was there to score at 15:47.

Ontario went ahead 5-3 in the final period after Amadio fired a shot and Sutter tucked in the rebound at 11:44. Brodzinski grabbed the secondary assist. In the waning minutes of the frame, Rockford pulled Glass for an extra attacker and pulled within one thanks to a goal from forward Brandon Mashinter. Defenseman Gustav Forsling was credited with the assist, followed by Abbott who recorded the secondary assist and ended the night with three points.

Netminder Jack Campbell picked up his AHL-leading 25th win of the season with 16 saves, while Glass took the loss with 29 stops on 34 attempts.

"We had the mentality where we wanted to come out strong and I think we did a good job of that," said Amadio after the game.

"We need to be more consistent. Obviously we can't go in and not know how we're going to play and come out strong every night and make sure our work ethic is good," added Amadio.
