Bakersfield's Anton Lander Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week
February 27, 2017 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Bakersfield Condors forward Anton Lander has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 26, 2017.
Lander notched five points in two games last week as the Condors climbed into a playoff position in the Pacific Division with a pair of big wins.
On Friday night, Lander notched a goal and two assists to help the Condors to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Ontario, scoring the tying goal with 4:29 left in regulation and assisting on the game-winner 21 seconds later. Then on Saturday, Lander scored the winning goal and added another assist as Bakersfield downed Stockton, 3-1, giving him five points (on seven Condors goals) for the weekend.
Lander has amassed 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in just 22 games with Bakersfield this season, and he leads the AHL in shooting percentage (30.0 percent) while also ranking sixth in plus/minus rating (+20). The 25-year-old native of Sundsvall, Sweden, also has one goal and three assists in 22 games with Edmonton on the year. Lander, a second-round draft choice by the Oilers in 2009, is in his sixth campaign in North America and has appeared in 215 career NHL games with Edmonton, totaling 10 goals and 25 assists for 35 points. In 158 AHL games with Bakersfield and Oklahoma City, Lander has 55 goals and 90 assists for 145 points.
In recognition of his achievement, Lander will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Condors home game.
