Susdorf helps sink Lugnuts, 10-6

CLINTON- Billy Susdorf went 2-5 and drove in three runs, including the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as the Clinton LumberKings(54-49, 16-17) rallied from defecits three times in defeating the Lugnuts(52-50, 15-18) by a 10-6 score at Alliant Energy Field on Wednesday night.

Susdorf's single in the seventh broke a 6-6 tie and the LumberKings added three runs in the eighth off Yesson Berroa to put the game away.

Lansing took the early lead in the second off Clinton starter John Bannister(ND), getting an RBI single from Aaron Mathews that scored Charlie Anderson.

Clinton used the first of their three homers off A.J. Wideman(ND) in the second to tie the game at 1-1 as Ian Gac went deep to left center. Later, Susdorf connected for a two-run shot off Wideman, putting the LumberKings ahead 3-1.

Lansing scored four times in the third to retake the lead. The frame was highlighted by the first RBI by Anthony Sanders and a two-out, three-run double by David Corrente.

Brandon Boggs retied the score in the fifth with a two-run shot off Wideman and after the Lugnuts retook the lead in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Eugenio Velez, the LumberKings scored twice in the seventh to retake the lead for good.

Ben Harrison led off the inning with a infield single off Juan Perez(6-5) and one out later a single by Brandon Cashman put runners at the corners and chased Perez. Craig Hurba's single off Yesson Berroa tied the game and then Susdorf followed it with his single to right to give the LumberKings the lead.

In the eighth, an RBI single by Ian Gac made it 8-6 and a two-run play occured when Hurba delievered another RBI hit.

Lansing went in order in the ninth against Mark Roberts, who worked 1.2 innings of perfect relief to earn his first save of the season. Edwin Vera(1-0) got the relief win for the LumberKings, working 2.1 innings and allowing an earned run.

Lansing will try and earn a win in the series finale tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. as they will send right hander Po-Hsuan Keng to the mound. Clinton will counter with right hander Paul Kometani.
