Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
FOX CITIES STADIUM -- Rob Johnson and Mike Wilson homered and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers got strong pitching performances from Cibney Bello and Justin Jordan for a 7-1 win over the Kane County Cougars in game two of a double header Wednesday. The win gave the Timber Rattlers their first doubleheader sweep since June 1, 2003.
Kane County (47-54 overall, 16-17 second half) got an early 1-0 lead with an RBI double in the first inning by Javier Herrera.
The Rattlers (56-47, 17-16) answered with four runs in the bottom of the first. Johnson hit a two-run homer to left to make the score 2-1. Later in the inning, Matt Tuiasosopo drove in a pair of runs with a single.
Brent Johnson singled in a run in the bottom of the second inning to give the Rattlers a four run cushion at 5-1. Wilson hit a long solo homer to start the Rattler third and made the lead 6-1.
Bello, the Rattler starter, struck out the first two batters in the top of the fourth inning, but loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batsman. However, Bello got out of the jam by getting Cliff Pennington to line out to center. Bello worked four innings allowing one run on three hits and struck out six.
Chen added a run for the Rattlers with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning and Wisconsin was up 7-1.
Jordan did not need the insurance run. He pitched three scoreless innings and allowed three hits. Jordan struck out the final two batters of the game to finish off the Cougars and get his first professional win.
The final game of the series is set for Thursday night. Julio Santiago (2-2, 5.33ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Ryan Ford (9-5, 4.33ERA) is scheduled to start for the Cougars. Game time is 7:05pm.
