Hagerstown Suns News Release
HAGERSTOWN, MD - Four the fourth consecutive year, the Suns have partnered with First Data for the "You've Been Ticketed" program. Local public safety officers are on the lookout for individuals "caught" doing good deeds and will reward them with a ticket to a future Hagerstown Suns game.
The Suns, along with First Data, have donated vouchers for free game tickets to seven agencies in the Tri-State area: The Maryland State Police, Washington County Community Rescue, The Washington County Sheriff's Department, The Hagerstown Police Department, The Hagerstown Fire Department, The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, and The Boonsboro Police Department and the Hancock Police Department. In all, more than 1,500 tickets have already been distributed with a grand total of 3,000 tickets to be given out by the end of the season.
"We thank First Data for making this program possible. You've Been Ticketed has been very well-received by our participating agencies distributing the tickets, and we appreciate being part of another community program designed to promote and recognize goodwill throughout the County," said Suns General Manager Will Smith.
The actual "offenses" deemed worthy of receiving a "ticket" are left to the discretion of the individual officers, but examples of ticket-worthy behavior includes helping an elderly citizen across a busy road, picking up trash on a sidewalk or wearing appropriate safety gear while skateboarding or bike riding.
The Suns and First Data first partnered on the program in 2005, and 3,000 tickets have been distributed each summer since.
The Hagerstown Suns play at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD and are a Class "A" affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Ticket packages and sponsorships are available by calling the Suns at 301-791-6266. Visit the Suns on the web at www.hagerstownsuns.com. The Suns are owned by Los Angeles based Mandalay Baseball Properties.
