CHARLESTON - After a four-game road trip in Greenville, the Charleston RiverDogs continue their hunt for a 2008 South Atlantic League (SAL) playoff berth with a four-game homestand against the Rome Braves from August 6-9 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

First pitch for each contest is set for 7:05 p.m.

Wednesday marks another ALL-U-CAN-EAT Wild Wednesday presented by Service Master Clean of Charleston and The Bridge 105.5 FM, with a face-stuffing spread available for just $20 in the Ashley View Pub. It's also the second attempt for Firefighter's Night at The Joe, after the originally scheduled date was rained out earlier this season. As part of this special promotional night, between-inning activities consist of a truck t-shirt toss, a thermal camera giveaway and a frozen t-shirt contest with the winner receiving $500.

The RiverDogs also bid adieu to their behind-the-scenes dynamos as the Interns Run the Show. Each of the RiverDogs' interns will be handing out their resumes at the front gate in the hope that they will catch the eye of a prospective employer.

Thursday features another Thirsty Thursday presented by Market Street Saloon and 95 SX, with $1 food and drink specials in the Ashley View Pub all evening long. Disability Awareness Night is highlighted on this evening with a special pregame ceremony honoring Cornelia Pelzer. The recognition is sponsored by Mass Mutual and Exceptional Parent Magazine.

Friday is another Force Protection Red Shirt Friday presented by Force Protection Industries, Inc. and WEZL. Fans who wear red shirts to the game that night receive $1 off the usual ticket price and then have the option of donating that $1 to Lowcountry area men and women serving overseas. The RiverDogs will wear their new red jerseys each and every Friday night, with a postgame fireworks spectacular scheduled once again.

On this night, politics and sports become unified as the RiverDogs hold Bobblection '08, as a participating member of the Goldklang Group, which owns five other teams in Minor League Baseball in addition to Charleston. The first 1,000 fans through the gate, regardless of age, have the opportunity to select their bobblehead candidate of choice: Republican candidate John McCain or Democratic candidate Barack Obama. Each politician will have 500 bobbleheads and the first candidate to run out will be declared the winner.

The voting process is by electronic voting booths courtesy of the Charleston County Board of Voters and Registration. In addition to the presidential query, fans can also vote on other controversial baseball issues with their ticket for that night serving as a registration card.

Charleston's participation in the event is part of a week-long promotion set into action by the Goldklang Group, back by popular demand after a successful trial run in the 2004 season. Fans selected George W. Bush over John Kerry in the organization-wide vote, and Bush went on to win his second term in the general election that November.

Saturday puts a capstone on the homestand with a Back to School Superhero Cape Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans to click through the turnstiles presented by Comcast. This night is also the BB&T Triple Play Night as part of the season-long texting promotion. For additional information on this particular promo, contact Assistant General Manager Andy Lange at (843)723-7241.

Also, RiverDogs' co-owner and former American League President Dr. Gene Budig will be on hand for photographs and to sign copies of his new book, Grasping the Ring.

Following the four-game set, the RiverDogs get an off-day before embarking on the longest road trip of the season, with four games against the Delmarva Shorebirds, a Baltimore Orioles affiliate, and then another four-game series visiting the Lakewood BlueClaws, a Philadelphia Phillies affiliate, from August 11-18.

The final homestand of the ‘08 season features nine games in eight days begins on Aug. 20 with a six-game series against the Columbus Catfish, a Tampa Bay Rays affiliate, through Aug. 24, and a three-game set versus the Savannah Sand Gnats, a New York Mets affiliate, from August 25-27.
