Suns Hold off Claws' Rally 3-1 on Thursday Night

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Nick Lee gave up two hits over five scoreless innings and Hagerstown held off a ninth-inning BlueClaws rally as the Suns topped the BlueClaws 3-1 on Thursday night.

The BlueClaws brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth after an RBI single by Kyle Martin and a single by Jiandido Tromp, but Koda Glover got pinch hitter Deivi Grullon to pop up to second base to end the game and earn his fourth save.

The BlueClaws drop the third game of the four game series after winning the first two and fall to 32-27/65-62 while the Suns improve to 29-30/63-63.

Hagerstown scored once in the third inning on a SAC fly by Osvaldo Abreu and they added to runs in the fourth inning when Bryan Mejia tripled in a run and scored on a throwing error by right fielder Herlis Rodriguez to make it 3-0.

Lakewood starter Shane Watson gave up three runs over five innings (two earned) and walked four. Calvin Rayburn followed Watson with two scoreless innings as did Scott Harris.

Herlis Rodriguez, Damek Tomscha, and Jiandido Tromp all had two hits for the BlueClaws.

The series with Hagerstown wraps up on Friday night. RHP Will Morris (5-0) starts for Lakewood against RHP Erick Fredde (0-1).
