Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Colleen Sullivan-Moore, an Education Nurse Specialist of Breast Health with Lovelace Sandia Health System, has been named Bank of America "Neighborhood Champion" by the Albuquerque Isotopes and local civic leaders, the team announced Wednesday. Sullivan-Moore will be recognized during pre-game festivities Thursday night when the âTopes host the Nashville Sounds in the third game of a four-game series beginning at 7:05.
Bank of America "Neighborhood Champions" is a locally-driven recognition program that offers a way for community members from around the country to honor their teachers, police officers, firefighters and healthcare professionals by nominating them as "Neighborhood Champions."
Sullivan-Moore, who received a Master of Community Health Education degree from the University of New Mexico in 1997, works with cancer patients and their families to help them through difficult times by providing education about breast cancer as well as community outreach on breast health issues. She has received numerous awards for her excellence in her field including the 2001 Spirit of Women Healthcare Professional Award, the 2001 Special Recognition Award for Volunteer Service, and the 2001 Nurse Hero Award from the New Mexico Nurses Consortium for Nursing Workforce Development. Sullivan-Moore is also an executive board member of the Anita Salas Breast Cancer Memorial Fund which works to provide financial assistance and medical services to low-income women in need of breast care throughout the state.
Sullivan-Moore is the fourth and final "Neighborhood Champion" to be recognized this month. All four honorees - including Anthony Montano, an Albuquerque police officer; Monty Moya, a member of the Albuquerque Fire Department; and Jose Apodaca, a teacher from Longfellow Elementary School - will be recognized this Friday at Isotopes Park and will throw out the ceremonial first pitches prior to the âTopes' series finale against Nashville beginning at 7:05 p.m.
