\'Birds end slide, win 2-1

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis scratched out a run in the bottom of the ninth to win 2-1 and end their six game losing streak Wednesday afternoon at AutoZone Park in front of 10,601 fans.

3B Bo Hart led off the bottom of the ninth with a double down the left field line and later scored on a throwing error by Express reliever Roberto Giron, until Hart scored the ‘Birds had endured a frustrating aftrenoon stranding a season-high 14 men, including four at third base. Hart was the hero on the afternoon going 3-for-4 with a home run and both Memphis runs scored. Only three Redbirds had hits on the afternoon, Hart, CF Skip Schumaker and LF Raul Gonzalez. Schumaker went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles. Round Rock's Todd Self homered for the second consecutive game with a solo shot off the right field foul pole in the second inning.

Redbirds reliever Vladimir Nunez (1-1) earned the win by recording one out in the top of the ninth for his first win since joining Memphis. Giron (0-1) took the loss for the Express. Memphis starter Kevin Jarvis pitched seven innings and allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts.

Memphis will start RHP Mark Nussbeck (0-3) in game three of the series. Round Rock is yet to determine a starter for the game. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. tomorrow night.
