TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Iowa Cubs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1998. Last year they were 79-64, first in the PCL Central. They beat Oklahoma three games to two in the first round of the PCL playoffs and were swept by Sacramento in the PCL finals.

TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue their four-game series with Iowa . The RedHawks are on a season-long seven-game losing streak. It is the longest losing streak by the RedHawks since an eight-game losing streak June 14-21, 2001. The RedHawks are 4-4 on Wednesdays.

STANDINGS: The RedHawks are in second place, one game behind Albuquerque .

LAST GAME: Iowa's Ben Grieve hit a two-run, walk-off home run off Jose Veras to give Iowa a 5-4 win. John Hudgins started and went 6.2 innings, giving up three runs on nine hits. He received a season-high four support runs. Rashad Eldridge hit his third home run of the year to extend his hit streak to 10 games. Ian Kinsler was three-for-four.

VS. IOWA: The RedHawks are 10-3 in Iowa the last two seasons and 22-23 there since moving to the PCL in 1998. The last two years against Iowa , Jason Conti is 23-for-73 [.315] with nine RBIs in 19 games. Chad Allen was 12-for-29 [.414] with seven RBIs in seven games against them the last two years. Last year the RedHawks hit four home runs in eight games at Iowa . They have already hit six there through five games this year.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Oklahoma's Josh Rupe makes his fourth start this season for the RedHawks. In his previous outing on the road, Rupe gave up four runs, three earned on six hits over 6.2 innings June 12 at New Orleans . Jon Leicester starts for Iowa . Leicester made a relief appearance against Oklahoma June 3. He gave up a triple to Gerald Laird.

STREAKERS: Outfielder Rashad Eldridge is on a 10-game hitting streak dating back to June 12. During the streak, Eldridge is 17-for-37 [.459] with five RBIs. He has five two-hit games and a three-hit game during the streak. He also had one of Oklahoma 's three hits June 16. Relief pitcher Justin Thompson has not allowed a walk since May 27 at Memphis. During that span, he has made eight appearances, pitched 12.2 innings and struck out nine batters.

IAN KINSLER: In his last 26 games, all from the No. 2 spot in the lineup, Ian Kinsler is 37-for-107 [.345] at the plate with seven doubles, a triple, six home runs [64 total bases], 27 RBIs, 10 walks and 10 strikeouts. In his first 39 games, he batted .226 with nine doubles, eight home runs [68 total bases], 28RBIs, 11 walks and 32 strikeouts. Current batting average: .275.

BOTTOM'S UP: The last seven games, the 7-8-9 batters are a combined 27-for-75 [.360] with 15 RBIs and seven doubles and a home run. The 15 RBIs represents 41 percent [15-of-37] of the runs batted in by the RedHawks the last seven games. Jace Brewer is 9-for-25 [.360] from the ninth spot in the order the last seven games.

LOSING STREAKS: This is the RedHawks' longest losing streak since they lost eight in a row June 14-21, 2001 . Those losses came on back-to-back sweeps by Tacoma and Portland on an eight-game road trip. Last year, the RedHawks longest losing streak was four, three times. Their last four-game losing streak of 2004 was June 10-13, a four game sweep by Iowa at SBC Bricktown Ballpark.

DOT-DOT-DOTS: Manager Bobby Jones was named a coach for the World team for the XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game June 22 in Detroit ... The home run given up by Jose Veras last night was the first home run surrendered by a reliever other than Ryan Snare since May 16 when Keith Stamler gave up a home run at Fresno ... During the seven-game losing streak, the RedHawks have committed 11 errors, leading to nine unearned runs. Their opponents have committed five errors the last seven games ... The RedHawks have left 57 men on base, 32 in scoring position during the losing streak. Oklahoma is 19-for-67 [.284] with men in scoring position during that span.
