Storm trade McCollum to Battalion

(GUELPH) The Guelph Storm announced that they have acquired goaltender Brandon Foote, forward Josh Shalla and 2nd round picks in both the 2010 and 2011 OHL Priority Selections from the Brampton Battalion for goaltender Thomas McCollum.

Foote was drafted by the Brampton Battalion in the 3rd round (60th overall) of the 2007 OHL Priority Selection. The Whitby native has a record of 11-2 in 19 appearances with a goals against average of 3.15. He currently ranks second in the OHL with an impressive 0.846% winning percentage, behind only Andrew Engelage of the Windsor Spitfires and in his 15 starts has two shutouts. The 17 year old leads all OHL rookie goaltenders in wins (11), goals against average and shutouts.

Shalla, drafted by the Brampton Battalion in the 4th round (65th overall) of the 2007 OHL Priority Selection has 15 points, 11 goals and 4 assists on the season. The Whitby native was 5th on the Battalion in goals, scoring all 11 in his last 25 games.

McCollum joins the Battalion after three seasons with the Storm. Signed by the Storm as a free agent in 2006, the 19 year old leaves Guelph as the leader in career shutouts with 12 and all-time goals against average with 2.39. He was recently drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1st round (30th overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft.
