Erie Otters News Release
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League did not make any moves prior to the OHL Trade Deadline, which passed today at noon.
"We worked hard to try to find a deal that would improve our hockey club but in the end it just wasn't there," said Otters General Manager and Managing Partner Sherwood Bassin. "With that being said, I like the way our hockey team has improved and really didn't want to alter the chemistry we have created this season. Considering the way we have played lately I am confident that we will more than compete for a playoff spot in the Conference especially considering the fact that other teams that we are battling against for playoff positioning in the Conference chose to move some of their veteran players."
The biggest deal of the day involved the Guelph Storm and Brampton Battalion. The Storm sent all-star goaltender Thomas McCollum to the Battalion in exchange for forward Josh Shalla, goaltender Brandon Foote and second round picks in the 2010 and 2011 OHL Priority Selection.
Former Otters member Anthony Peluso was also on the move today as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds dealt the veteran forward to the Battalion for forward Kyle DeCoste and a fifth round pick in 2012.
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League travel to Owen Sound this weekend for a pair of key Western Conference games against the Attack.
The two teams meet in Owen Sound Friday and Saturday. Both games can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
The next Otters home games take place Friday, January 16th and Saturday, January 17th when the Niagara IceDogs and Sarnia Sting visit for 7 p.m. starts respectively. Business Records Management sponsors Friday's game against the IceDogs. Fans who bring documents to be securely shredded will receive a buy-one, get-one free ticket coupon for that night's game. Saturday is NASCAR Night presented by Sports Obsession.
Tickets for both games are available at all Erie-area Ticketmaster locations, the Civic Center Box Office, on line at www.ottershockey.com or by calling 814-452-4857.
