
Otters Post Shootout Victory

OWEN SOUND, Ont. - Greg McKegg scored in the sixth round of the shootout to lead the Erie Otters to a 6-5 win over the Owen Sound Attack in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 2,015 at the J.D. McArthur Arena Justin Hodgman, Sean Jones, Shawn Szydlowski, Zack Torquato and Mike Cazzola scored for the Otters in regulation while Ryan O'Reilly registered two assists to extend his point-scoring streak to seven games. Erie improved to 21-18-2-0 with the win, third straight on the road.
Josh Moes paced the Attack with three goals while singles went to Michael McGurk and Steven Shipley. Owen slipped to 15-16-5-4 with their fifth straight home loss.
The two teams were tied at one after one, at three after two and at five after regulation.
The Otters out shot the Attack 54-34 in the game as Jaroslav Janus, who stopped all six Attack attempts in the shootout, posted the victory.
The three stars of the game were 1. Moes; 2. O'Reilly and 3. Owen Sound goalie Scott Stajcer (49 saves in regulation and overtime and five in a shootout).
The Otters wrap up weekend action tomorrow (Saturday) night when they complete their two-game series with the Attack. The game can be heard live on FOX Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN and on-line at www.ottershockey.com (presented by the James H. Cross Company) beginning with the pre-game show at 7:15 p.m.
The next Otters home games take place Friday, January 16th and Saturday, January 17th when the Niagara IceDogs and Sarnia Sting visit for 7 p.m. starts respectively.

Saturday is NASCAR Night presented by Sports Obsession and Lake Erie Speedway. The first 1,000 fans into the game will receive a free ticket to the Speedway season opener on Saturday, May 23rd. In addition, Lake Erie Speedway will be randomly giving away autographed NASCAR memorabilia throughout the game.
