Majors Take Bite Out of Wolves

Sudbury, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors jumpstarted a three-game weekend road trip tonight, with a visit to the home of the Sudbury Wolves. The Majors came away victorious with a 4-0 shutout over the home squad, and this marks Majors goalie Chris Carrozzi's second shutout of the year. Mississauga outshot Sudbury by a total count of 42-25.

It is also GM/Head Coach Dave Cameron's first game back behind the Majors bench, since returning home with a gold medal at the'09 IIHF World Junior Championships as Assistant Coach of Team Canada.

With tonight's victory, Mississauga's record accelerates to 22-15-1-1 on the season.

Jared Gomes got Mississauga on the board in the 1st period with a goal coming at 13:47, with help from Jordan Mayer and Corey Bureau. Then, Kyle Neuber quickly made it 2-0 for the Majors, with his tally coming at 15:23 off of passes from Blake Parlett and Mike Pelech.

With only 1:46 into the 2nd period, Casey Cizikas scored a shorthanded goal to put the visitors up 3-0, heading into the final frame.

Mayer ended things off in the 3rd period for Mississauga, with an empty-net goal late in the frame at 18:45 (unassisted), to put the game away.

Carrozzi got the start in net and blocked 25 shots for the Majors, while Andrew Loverock turned aside 38 shots for the Wolves. Mississauga went 0 for 2 on the power-play, while Sudbury finished 0 for 5 on the night. The game's three stars were Cizikas (1st), Carrozzi (2nd) and Loverock (3rd).

Mississauga continues their road trip tomorrow afternoon with a visit to the Ottawa 67's at 2 p.m. Then, they visit the London Knights this Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. All Majors road games are available via webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.
