Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

PAPILLION, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers beat the Louisville Bats, 4-1, in Wednesday's regularly schedule game at Werner Park after dropping the series opener-which was completed Wednesday after being suspended on Tuesday-5-4.

Omaha (3-5) never trailed during Wednesday's regularly schedule game, putting up four runs on a season-high-tying 10 hits while right-hander Jonathan Heasley, left-hander Josh Dye (Win, 1-0), right-hander Colten Brewer, and right-hander Arodys Vizcaíno combined to hold Louisville (2-6) to one run on three hits.

The Storm Chasers broke a scoreless tie in the fourth when shortstop Angelo Castellano laced a two-out, RBI single to left field to bring in first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino, who drew a walk against right-hander Randy Wynne (Loss, 0-1) earlier in the inning.

Heasley, who made his Werner Park debut, struck out six across 4.0 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and walking one on 67 pitches. He struck out four of the final five batters he faced, retiring seven of the last eight batters he faced overall.

Third baseman Emmanuel Rivera launched his first home run of the season to lead off the sixth inning, a solo shot over the right-field fence. The Storm Chasers added two more runs with three consecutive two out hits-a double from catcher Freddy Fermin and RBI singles from Castellano and outfielder Dairon Blanco.

Castellano finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Rivera went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.

Dye tossed 2.0 scoreless innings with four strikeouts before giving way to Brewer, who retired all six batters he faced and has now retired all 13 batters he's faced in 2022. Vizcaíno allowed a run on a leadoff walk and an RBI double by Jake Bauers before securing the final out to clinch the first home win of 2022 for Omaha and manager Scott Thorman's first win at Werner Park.

Prior to the regularly scheduled game, the Storm Chasers and Bats resumed Tuesday's series opener in the top of the sixth inning with runners on first and third and one out, with Omaha trailing, 3-1. The Bats pounced following the resumption of the game, adding two runs on an RBI groudout by Lorenzo Cedrola and an RBI single by Cristian Santana.

The Storm Chasers responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth when second baseman Clay Dungan led off with a single and later scored on an RBI single by Rivera. Omaha added a run in the eighth on two errors, a balk, and sacrifice fly by Pasquantino to cut the deficit to two, 5-3. In the ninth, the Storm Chasers scored a run on an opposite-field RBI single from first baseman Nick Pratto and brought the tying run to the plate, but catcher MJ Melendez grounded out to end the game.

The Storm Chasers continue their first home series of the season against Louisville on Thursday, when Omaha right-hander Daniel Mengden (0-0, 2.70) faces Louisville right-hander Graham Ashcraft (0-1, 8.10). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. and coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.
