
Bulls Score a Season-High 10 Runs in Win over Jumbo Shrimp

DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls defeated the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 10-5 on Wednesday evening at Durham Bulls Athletic Park to even the six-game series at one game apiece. The Bulls used a strong offensive performance, hitting four home runs en-route to scoring a season-high 10 runs in the win.
To get things started, the Bulls got a sac fly RBI from RF Ruben Cardenas,for the early 1-0 advantage. The team would strike again in the second inning, with LF Niko Hulsizer getting in on the action with a solo home run in his Bulls debut for the 2-0 advantage. The Jumbo Shrimp were able to get even on the scoreboard with a Lewin Diaz home run double in the fourth inning.
Following the Jacksonville home run, the Bulls responded with a home run of their own in the bottom of the fourth, as Cardenas hit a solo shot to give his team the lead at 3-2. Jacksonville would again get the equalizing run in the next inning as Brian Miller connected on an RBI single.
In the bottom of the sixth, Cardenas would remain hot, this time hitting an RBI triple, scoring Rene Pinto to regain the lead at 4-3. Ford Proctor would then hit an RBI single, scoring Cardenas for the 5-3 lead. The team would add one more run in the sixth inning off of a Miles Mastrobuoni RBI single, scoring Tristan Gray.
After the Jumbo Shrimp cut the deficit to one, 3B Isaac Paredes hit a home run single to stretch the lead back to two at 7-5. Gray would get back in on the action with a home run double, giving the Bulls a 9-5 lead. The Bulls would add one more insurance run to make the score 10-5.
Miller Hogan got the start on the mound for the Bulls, and threw four innings, giving up two runs, four hits and ringing up two strikeouts. Relievers Calvin Faucher and Chris Muller threw two innings apiece, giving up three runs on four hits combined and ringing up five strikeouts as well. Faucher was credited for the win, while Jacksonville starter Braxton Garrett suffered the loss.
The Bulls will be back in action on Thursday for game three of the six-game series vs the Jumbo Shrimp. The Bulls starting pitcher is to be determined, while the Jumbo Shrimp are scheduled to start RHP Jeff Lindgren. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at the DBAP.
