Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
PAPILLION, NE - Minor League Baseball announced on Monday that the Omaha Storm Chasers were among the top 25 organizations for licensed merchandise sales for 2017. It marks the second consecutive year the Storm Chasers have been among the top 25, in addition to the third time since the Storm Chasers' inaugural season at Werner Park in 2011.
"We are thrilled to have earned our way on to this list for the second straight season," said Storm Chasers President and General Manager Martie Cordaro. "We are incredibly thankful to our great and loyal fanbase for their continued support, as well as to the efforts of our Merchandise Department led by Assistant General Manager Laurie Schlender and her staff."
In honor of this achievement, the Storm Front Team Store will be offering 25 percent off web orders through July 29. Fans can take advantage of this offer by using the promo code "17TOP25". Some exclusions apply. Fans may shop online: http://bit.ly/19Ao4kO.
Overall, all 160 teams combined to set a Minor League Baseball record with $70.8 million in licensed merchandise sales, nearly a four percent increase from the 2016 total. The numbers are based on total licensed merchandise sales from January 1 through December 31, 2017, and include the 160 teams in the domestic-based leagues that charge admission to their games.
"Minor League Baseball team names and logos continue to be among the most popular in all of professional sports and our teams have made promoting their brand a priority for their respective organizations," said Brian Earle, Minor League Baseball's Chief Operating Officer. "The teams have done a tremendous job of using their team marks and logos to build an identity that is appealing to fans not just locally, but in some cases, globally as well."
Storm Chasers licensed merchandise can be purchased at the Storm Front Team Store from noon until 6:00pm Monday through Saturday, and during Storm Chasers contests, at Werner Park. Fans may also shop at any time online: http://bit.ly/19Ao4kO.
The Omaha Storm Chasers have been the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals since 1969, the longest Triple-A affiliation in Minor League Baseball, and play at Werner Park in Papillion, Sarpy County, Nebraska.
