Stoner & Bullpen Lead B-Mets in 4-1 Win

BINGHAMTON, NY - Tobi Stoner tossed six strong innings and the Binghamton bullpen preserved the lead in a 4-1 B-Mets victory over the Harrisburg Senators tonight at NYSEG Stadium.

Stoner worked out the kinks in his third appearance with Binghamton this year. After two rocky starts, the right-hander put forth his best performance of 2011, allowing just one run on four hits and striking out a season-best four.

Stoner helped himself out at the plate in third inning. The Maryland native led off the frame with a hard-hit double to the left field gap off Harrisburg starter Erik Davis. A sac bunt pushed Stoner to third and Reese Havens brought him home with a triple to right.

The Senators offered a quick rebuttal. Tyler Moore started the fourth by slugging his twelfth home run over the left field fence to tie the game. It would be the only blemish on Stoner's tab. He bounced back to put up scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth.

The Binghamton offense made Stoner eligible for the win with a run in the sixth. Davis paid for handing out a one-out walk to Bubba Bell. The outfielder put himself in scoring position by swiping second and came home on Allan Dykstra's bloop single to left field.

Brandon Sage took the ball in the seventh and preserved the one-run lead. He allowed just one hit and struck out two in a pair of shutout innings.

Salomon Manriquez provided a cushion in the eighth by squeaking a two-run home run off Matt Chico over the left field fence.

Erik Turgeon bounced back from a rough outing last night and took the ball in search of the save. The right-hander worked around a one-out double to nail down his third save of the year and make a winner of Stoner for the first time this season.

The B-Mets (19-38) wrap up their series against the Senators tomorrow morning at 10:35am. RHP Brandon Moore (5-3, 3.78) will take the ball for his eleventh start. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show begins at 10:20am on ESPN 1360 WYOS.
