New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced today that another of their players - INF Michael Hollimon - has been promoted to Rochester in the International League. He is the fifth member of the New Britain club to be summoned to the Triple-A level in the last two-plus weeks.

The 6'1"/185-pound Hollimon has been a valuable member of the 2011 Rock Cats because of his veteran leadership, defensive versatility, and situational power hitting. Originally selected by the Detroit organization out of Oral Robert University in the 16th Round of the 2005 Draft, the sure-handed Infielder made it to the Major Leagues with the Tigers in 2008. He was released by Detroit in 2010, and in December of that year was signed by Minnesota as a Minor League free agent. The Dallas, TX resident appeared in 44 games for New Britain this year and heads off to western New York with a somewhat deceiving .192 BA as he owned a team-leading 7 HRs (and 23 RBI) at the time of his departure.

There is no corresponding move at this time to fill the roster vacancy created by Mr. Hollimon's promotion. He will be in uniform with his new team tonight.
