
Moises Sierra Homers But Fisher Cats Fall to Baysox

(Manchester, NH)-Moises Sierra hit his tenth home run of the season and Mark Sobolewski extended his hit streak to 13 games, but the Fisher Cats dropped a 4-2 decision to Bowie on Wednesday night.
Bowie (30-30) opened a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Billy Rowell led off with an infield single and Xavier Avery. Rowell scored on a pair of wild pitches by Joel Carreno. Caleb Joseph blasted a two-run homer.
New Hampshire (35-23) picked up its first run in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run by Moises Sierra to make it 3-1.
The Fisher Cats closed to within one run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sierra walked, advanced to second on a single by Travis d'Arnaud, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout by Yan Gomes (2-for-4, RBI).
After an hour and eight minute rain delay, Buck Britton (2-for-4, HR, RBI) hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning for the game's final run.
Joel Carreno (4-4) suffered his first loss since April 30, allowing three runs on five hits in 6.2 IP. He walked three and struck out eight.
Rick Zagone (2-4) earned the win for Bowie, allowing two runs on nine hits in 5.1 innings. He walked three and struck out two. Raul Rivero pitched two innings of scoreless relief for his first pro save.
New Hampshire third baseman Mark Sobolewski went 2-for-4, extending his hit streak to 13 games. It's the longest streak by a Fisher Cats player this season and is tied for the longest active streak in the Eastern League.
The series with the Baysox concludes tomorrow night at 7:05pm. RHP Zach Stewart (3-3, 4.66) starts for the Fisher Cats against Bowie RHP Zach Clark (5-4, 3.97). An Atlas Fireworks Show will follow the game. The first 1,500 fans will receive a free Fisher Cats Hat courtesy of Catholic Medical Center.
