Stingrays Weekly: Stingrays Skate Away With Two Points In Florida

This week the South Carolina Stingrays made a quick trip south to battle the Florida Everblades in Germain Arena for a week record of 0-0-1-1. On Saturday, the Stingrays jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, but Everblades forward Kevin Baker netted two goals in the third period and completed the hat trick in overtime to defeat the Stingrays 5-4. Stingrays forward Keith Johnson netted two goals and an assist. The two teams squared off again on Sunday with the Stingrays grabbing a 2-0 lead heading into the third period. The Everblades battled back to tie the contest and sent the game into overtime. Neither side could find the twine in the extra session. Florida converted twice in the shootout and blanked the Stingrays to take the win. Stingrays defenseman Nick Klaren scored his first ECHL goal and rookie Jake Hauswirth converted on the power play in the loss.

Stingrays rookie Jake Hauswirth stands 13 on ECHL rookie chart with 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points. Forward Rob Ricci ranks eighth among ECHL rookies with 41 points (19g, 22a).

Stingrays forward Keith Johnson leads the Stingrays and ranks eighth on the ECHL overall leaderboard with 25 goals and 32 assists for 57 points.

Defenseman Dylan Yeo ranks 16 among ECHL defenseman with 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points.

Stingrays forward Gregg Johnson is currently on a seven-game assist streak with seven assists and on a seven-game point streak with three goals and seven assists.
