
Everblades Topple Stingrays in Shoot Out

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades came from behind to knock off South Carolina for the second straight time in a shootout, 3-2. The Everblades got a perfect four-for-four outing from Chris Beckford-Tseu in net, while the Everblades converted on two opportunities in the shootout to claim the victory. Goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu paced Florida with a season-high 49 saves in regulation and overtime.
After a scoreless first period with each team firing 10 shots on goal, South Carolina defenseman Nick Klaren recorded the first goal of the contest at 8:42 of the second. Forwards Gregg Johnson and Jake Hauswirth were credited the assists on Klaren's first goal of the season. The Stingrays' Jake Hauswirth added another tally on a power play at 10:44, with assists by defensemen Grant Farrell and Jason Fredricks. Florida goalie Chris Beckford-Tseu kept the Everblades in the contest stopping 20 of 22 shots in the period. South Carolina outshot Florida 22-7 in the middle period and converted one of four opportunities on the man advantage.
Florida notched their first goal of the game when captain Ross Carlson fired a slap shot from the right circle past South Carolina goaltender Parker VanBuskirk at 5:06. Right wing Dominic Osman and defenseman Benn Olson recorded assists on Carlson's 19th goal of the season. Three minutes later, Everblade right wing Ernie Hartlieb evened the score 2-2 with a tally at 8:41. Osman and center Colin Nicholson each picked up assists the power-play tally. Florida goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu stopped 47 of 49 shots on goal at the conclusion of regulation play. South Carolina's VanBuskirk backstopped 22 out of 24. Florida and South Carolina moved into overtime at a 2-2 standoff.
Neither team could pick up a goal in overtime, forcing a shootout. South Carolina missed all four opportunities in the shootout, while Florida's Colin Nicholson and Dominic Osman each beat Van Buskirk and the Everblades as a team went two of four. Florida came out victorious over South Carolina after trailing a 2-0 score heading into the final period.
The Everblades finish off their season-high, eight-game homestand this week versus Gwinnett on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Friday night is Direct Impressions team poster night for the first 5,000 fans through the gate and Saturday is the special Boston Red Sox jersey night. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game for charity.
