Stockton Thunder News Release
LAS VEGAS - Veteran J.F. Caudron scored three points (1g-2a) and his linemates Oren Eizenman (1g-1a) and Colin Hemingway (1g-1a) combined for seven points to help the Stockton Thunder (25-21-8, 58 points) end a three-game losing streak in a 6-4 road victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers before 4,923 fans at Orleans Arena on Saturday.
Head coach Matt Thomas, earning his win against former assistant and current Las Vegas head coach Ryan Mougenel, helped the Thunder snap a lifetime 11-game winless skid at Orleans Arena in the regular season (dating back to 2005-06).
Stockton shattered a 0-for-20 drought on the power-play with a 3-for-7 effort while receiving aid on Matt Robinson's pair of goals and a first period power-play marker.
Adam Miller re-directed a turnover to Greg Collins at the front of the net for a 1-0 Las Vegas lead just 2:42 into the game, but the Thunder came back to knot the score at 1-1 when Hemingway picked up his 19th goal of the year on a one-timer at the right goal post, finishing Oren Eizenman's post-to-post feed.
Miller snapped his 19th goal of the year to restore the Las Vegas lead at 2-1 with 11:12 gone in the second period from the mid-slot, but the Thunder broke a 0-for-20 skid on the power-play with Aiello's gal at 18:13 lead, tying the score at 2-2 on a drive from the left point.
Just 1:06 later, the Thunder raced to their first lead at 3-2 when a perfectly positioned Caudron, in the slot, deflected Justin DaCosta's pass from the right wing boards through Ouzas' five-hole for his 15th goal of the season.
Ned Lukacevic's 23rd goal of the season leveled the score at 3-3 on a 5-on-3 man-advantage goal, rifling a one-timer under the crossbar from the mid-slot.
The Thunder grabbed the lead back at 4-3 when Robinson scored from off the rush for his 19th goal of the year, slamming a slapshot under the crossbar from 40 feet out.
Eizenman buried his 13th goal of the season to hike the lead to 5-3 on the Thunder's third power-play goal of the game when he converted a one-timer at the right goal post and a finish of Caudron's centering pass from the left goal line.
Following the replacement of Ouzas with backup Joel Gistedt to start the third period, Las Vegas crept back into the game, trailing 5-4 on a power-play goal from Mick Lawrence, finding the back of the net on a snap shot from between the hash marks with 1:38 elapsed.
Robinson put the game out of reach just minutes after being denied on a diving save by Gistedt with an empty net goal with 38 seconds left.
