South Carolina Stingrays News Release

The South Carolina Stingrays wrapped up a three-in-three home weekend against the Reading Royals and the Wheeling Nailers for a week record of 2-1-0-0. The Stingrays hosted the Royals for the first time this season at North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night and skated away with an 8-5 victory. Six goals highlighted the third period and all 15 Stingrays skaters earned points. Stingrays forwards Keith Johnson (2g, 1a), Gregg Johnson (1g, 2a) and Trevor Bruess (3a) each netted three points. The two teams squared off again Saturday evening on Pack the House Night at the Coliseum with the Stingrays prevailing 5-3 in front of a new Stingrays single-game attendance record of 10,570. Stingrays rookie Jake Hauswirth led the scoring with two goals and one assist. The weekend came to a close Sunday afternoon against the Nailers. Stingrays forwards Michael Dubuc and Dain Prewitt lit the lamp in the opening period, but it wasn't enough to hold back the Nailers, falling 3-2. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak and marked the Stingrays' first loss against the North Division.
