Alaska's Doyle Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Frank Doyle of the Alaska Aces is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 11-17.

The 29 year old went 2-0-0 and garnered the first shutout of the year for Alaska with a 3-0 win over Las Vegas on Jan. 16. Doyle had a goals-against average of 0.50 and a save percentage of.984 after surrendering only one goal in 62 shots. He had a six-game winning streak from Jan. 4-22 in which he had a goals-against average of 1.81 and a save percentage of.946.

Doyle is 6-1-1 since joining the Aces at the beginning of January and is 9-3-1 overall. He ranks second in the league with a save percentage of.921 and is fourth with a goals-against average of 2.59.

He played in the ECHL as a rookie in 2004-05 and was 32-13-4 with four shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.16 and a save percentage of.916 in 52 regular season games and also appeared in three Kelly Cup Playoff games for Idaho.

The Guelph, Ontario native has played four seasons in the American Hockey League and is 55-86-11 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.92 and a save percentage of.908 with Utah, Albany and Lowell from 2004-08. He played in Germany in 2008-09 and was 13-20-0 with a goals-against average of 3.07 and a save percentage of.903 in 47 games for Cologne.

Prior to turning professional, Doyle played two seasons for the University of Maine where he was 29-8-5 with seven shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.96 and a save percentage of.919 from 2002-04. He was 19-4-0 with five shutouts in 2003-04 to help Maine capture the Hockey East championship and advance to the NCAA championship game where they lost 1-0 to Denver.
