Called Up: Forward Tom Zanoski was only back from his call up to the AHL's Albany River Rats for three days and one game before being called up to Lake Erie on Friday. It was the second time in one week that he had been called up. He recorded a goal in Lake Erie's 5-4 victory over Texas that night Defenseman Sam Roberts joined Zanoski on Friday to Lake Erie in his first ever appearance in the AHL.

2nd Period Letdowns: The Gladiators have been outscored 60-39 in the second period of games this season, while outscoring opponents 44-35 in the first and matching opponents in the third 53-53.

Leaders: Forward Adam Berti (10 goals, 27 assists) leads the team with 37 points. Patrick Galivan (18 goals, 17 assists) leads all Gladiator rookies and is 6th among league rookies with 35 points.

Streakers: Forward Adam Berti has a 3-game point streak with 2 assists and 1 goal, while Matt Caruana has a 4-game point streak with 2 goals and 3 assists.

Special Teams: The Gladiators continue to own the top-ranked power play unit in the American Conference and second best in the league, scoring 44 times in 207 man-advantages (21.3%). The Gladiators also own the best road power play percentage in the conference, going 26 for 98 (26.5%) away from home. Additionally, the Gladiators boast the league's best penalty killing unit on road ice, killing off 95 of 107 (88.8%) opposition man-advantages.

Losing Streak: The Gladiators dropped another game to Florida on Saturday to extend their season-high losing streak to four games. After beginning the season 8-0-2-0 on the road, the Gladiators are just 2-6-1-0 in their last nine road games.

Stingy: The Gladiators are 10-0 when holding opponents to two goals or less.

Cellar: The Gladiators remain in last place in the South Division with 41 points through 40 games, the second fewest games played in the league. They are currently eight points out of third place and six points out of a playoff berth.

Sin Bin: Forward Dan Sullivan is just 5 penalty minutes shy of 1,000 career penalty minutes since making his pro debut with the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters in 2002.

Lighting the Lamp: Forward Scott Mifsud has moved into 4th place in all time goals by a Gladiator with 55. He is just 15 short of Mike Vigilante, who played with the Gladiators from 2003 until 2008 and has 70 and currently sits in third place.

Last Week's Games: January 18, Charlotte 6, Gwinnett 4 - L The Gladiators again saw 2-goal leads disappear before losing another South Division match up. The Gladiators led 2-0, 3-1, and 4-2 before Charlotte scored four unanswered goals in the second and third periods to complete the come back. Adam Berti and Michael Forney both scored first period shorthanded goals, and Chris Higgins matched a season mark by extending his goal streak to four with his tally in the second period. Charlotte finished 3-7 on the power play, while Gwinnett finished just 1-7.

January 22, Florida 3, Gwinnett 2 - L Rookie Pat Galivan scored just 24 seconds into the contest, but Florida had three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead heading into the third period. Matt Caruana pulled the Gladiators to within one at 10:27 of the third period, but the Everblades held on for the South Division victory. Neither team was successful on the power play, and each goalie had 31 saves in the game.

January 23, Florida 5, Gwinnett 1 - L After a scoreless first period, the Everblades erupted for four goals in the second. Dan Sullivan scored for the Gladiators at 11:28 of the middle stanza sandwiched between four Florida goals, including two by former Gladiator Mike Bayrack. Brandon Buck added one more for the Everblades with just one second left in regulation, as Florida beat Gwinnett for the fourth straight time. Gwinnett went 1-5 on the power play, and Danny Taylor made 35 saves in the loss.

The Gladiators continue their season-long 6-game road trip, as they head north to play two games against the Elmira Jackals on Friday and Saturday nights sandwiched between two tilts with the Reading Royals on Wednesday and Sunday nights. The Gladiators emerged victorious in their one and only game at Elmira with 3-2 win on February 15th of 2008. The Gladiators did not face the Royals last season but are 2-2 all time against them, including a 4-3 victory in their last meeting, a February 17th game in Reading in 2008.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Wednesday, January 27th @ Reading at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
