Alaska Aces News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Frank Doyle has been named Reebock Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for January 11-17 after stopping 61 of 62 shots in back-to-back wins over Las Vegas.

Doyle currently ranks second in the league with a.921 save percentage and fourth with a 2.59 goals against average, including five starts with the Charlotte Checkers earlier this season. Since being acquired from Charlotte on New Year's Day, Doyle has gone 6-1-1 for the Aces with a 2.08 GAA and.936 save percentage. His six-game winning streak came to an end in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Stockton, the first time in eight starts with Alaska that he had allowed as many as four goals.

Doyle posted 24 saves in a 3-1 victory against the Wranglers January 15, then shut out Las Vegas with 37 stops the next night, the first bagel turned in by an Aces goaltender all year and the eighth whitewash of Doyle's six-year pro career. After earning ECHL All-Rookie team and All-Star Game MVP honors in 2005 as a member of the Idaho Steelheads, the 29-year-old Doyle spent three full seasons in the AHL before playing in the Deutch Elite League (DEL) last year. His college career at the University of Maine included two star-studded seasons in which he lost only eight of 42 decisions and helped lead the Black Bears to the 2004 Hockey East title and NCAA championship game.

Doyle and the Aces (19-19-3 overall) return to action Wednesday night at Bakersfield. Live coverage on KFQD 750 AM begins at 5:45 p.m. AT with the Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show. Alaska has not faced the Pacific Division-leading Condors just before Thanksgiving.
