South Carolina Stingrays News Release
LAST WEEK'S RESULTS:
January 22: Atlanta at South Carolina, 4-1 Win
A pair of goals in the first period from rookie forward Brett Cameron was just what the South Carolina Stingrays needed to end a five-game winless streak. South Carolina topped the rival Atlanta Gladiators 4-1 at the North Charleston Coliseum last Friday night thanks to Cameron's two goals, and tallies from David Pacan and Jared Staal.
January 23: Greenville at South Carolina, 4-3 Loss
Saturday's South Carolina Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Pack the House Night offered just about everything a fan could imagine, outside of the final result. The South Carolina Stingrays scored just 18 seconds into the game, but the Greenville Swamp Rabbits earned a 4-3 victory in front of a capacity crowd of 10,350 at the North Charleston Coliseum last Saturday night. A back-and-forth game thrilled the crowd that enjoyed $5 tickets and free parking as part of an annual tradition..
PACAN'S HOT STREAK
South Carolina forward David Pacan has been on a tear of late. The forward has goals in four straight games and leads the club with 13 goals on the season. Pacan is also the team leader in assists (19) and points (32). He is just one goal away from tying his professional career high of 14 goals in a season. He posted that number during his rookie season with Cincinnati in 2012-13. Pacan's recent streak also helped him hit a milestone. His goal in a 4-1 win over Atlanta on Friday was the 50th of his ECHL career.
WHAT A START
The Stingrays welcomed a capacity crowd of 10,350 for South Carolina Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Pack the House Night on Saturday, and the home team could not have given the crowd a better welcome. Marcus Perrier dropped the gloves just three seconds into the game with Greenville's Tyler Elbrecht. Just 15 seconds later, David Pacan scored the opening goal of the game to keep the crowd in a frenzy.
CAMERON COMING ON
Rookie forward Brett Cameron enjoyed a standout weekend. He registered five points (two goals, three assists) in a pair of games. He scored a pair of goals in the first period in a 4-1 win over Atlanta on Friday. His second tally proved to be the game-winning goal, and Cameron notched his first multi-goal game since Opening Night on October 17. Cameron's three assists in Saturday's game were also a career high for points in a single game.
MAGEE JOINS RAYS
The Stingrays added some scoring punch last week in a deal that sent goalie Branden Komm to Idaho. The club was reassigned Brandon Magee from the Texas Stars. The Edmonton, Alberta native appeared in 31 games with Idaho, scoring 15 points (six goals, nine assists) to go along with 48 penalty minutes in his rookie season. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound forward was a member of Dallas Stars prospect team in Traverse City, Mich. tournament and attended NHL Training Camp with Dallas Stars.
