
Weekend sweep draws Fuel close to division lead

The Indy Fuel went 3-0-0 against division opponents last week, giving the team seven wins in their last nine games and moving to within four points of first place in the Midwest Division with a record of 21-20-2 for 44 points.
Indy opened last week with a 2-1 win over Quad City on Friday. Daniel Ciampini and Cody Sharib picked up the Fuel's goals while Mac Carruth turned aside 29 of the 30 shots he faced to pick up the win in goal.
On Saturday, the Fuel completed their two-game sweep of the Mallards with a 3-1 victory. Sharib set a career high with three assists to lead the way offensively for Indy while Rhett Bly picked up a goal and an assist. Shane Owen recorded the win with 27 saves.
The Fuel ended the week with a 3-1 win against Fort Wayne on Sunday. Adam Lapsansky scored a pair of goals, Ciampini added two assists and Owen stopped 34 shots for his second straight win and fourth victory in his last five appearances.
Alex Lavoie leads Indy on the season with 30 points (9g-21a) while Garett Bembridge paces with the club with 11 goals. Ben Marshall is second among rookie defensemen in the league with 23 points (5g-18a).
The goaltending tandem of Carruth and Owen has been solid as the Fuel rank seventh in the league with 2.53 goals-against per game.
Indy is on the road Wednesday at Cincinnati before returning home for games against Evansville on Friday and Saturday.
Robinson ties ECHL record for longest winning streak
Missouri goaltender Josh Robinson is on a personal 16-game winning streak, tying the ECHL record for the longest winning streak by a goaltender in league history.
Robinson's streak began in a 4-3 win at Quad City on Nov. 4 and he tied the record in a 2-1 victory over Tulsa on Friday. He has allowed two goals or less 13 times during the streak.
The 26-year-old is 20-0-1 on the season and leads the ECHL in wins and goals-against average (1.69) and is teid for second in save percentage (.934).
The 16-game winning streak is tied with South Carolina's Jeff Jakaitis, who won 16 consecutive games from Feb. 15-April 2, 2015.

Eastern Conference
South Carolina at Norfolk (Friday and Saturday)
The Admirals have won seven of their last 10 games to close to within seven points of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Stingrays enter the week in sixth plae of the conference and look to create some separation between the teams pursuing them.
Western Conference
Alaska at Colorado (Friday and Saturday)
The Eagles have won three straight to move to within a point of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference while the Aces are fur points behind eighth place.

East Division
- Ken Appleby is second among rookie goaltenders with a 2.22 goals-against average.
- The Thunder are tied for third with 13 road wins (13-7-1).
- Adirondack hosts Reading on Friday and Saturday.
- Cason Hohmann is on a four-game point streak (3g-3a).
- Elmira is tied for second with two shorthanded goals against.
- The Jackals host Reading on Wednesday and Wheeling on Friday and Saturday.
- Joey Diamond is on a five-game point streak (2g-5a).
- The Monarchs have a league-leading six wins when trailing after two periods.
- Manchester is at Orlando on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Steven Whitney leads the Admirals with 30 points (10g-20a).
- Norfolk is 6-0-2 in games decided in overtime or a shootout.
- The Admirals host South Carolina on Friday and Saturday.
- Robbie Czarnik has nine goals in his last 14 games.
- The Royals are fourth with 27.35 shots-against per game.
- Reading hosts Brampton on Monday and visits Elmira on Wednesday and Adirondack on Friday and Saturday.
North Division
- Chris Auger leads Brampton with 14 goals.
- The Beast are tied for the league lead with 12 games decided in overtime or a shootout.
- Brampton is at Toledo on Friday and hosts Wheeling on Sunday.
- Justin Taylor scored his 100th career goal on Saturday at Wheeling.
- Kalamazoo has killed off each of its opponents' last 14 power-play opportunities.
- The K-Wings host Quad City on Friday and Fort Wayne on Sunday.
- Shane Berschbach has 16 points (7g-9a) and is +9 in a nine-game point streak.
- The Walleye have had sellout crowds in nine of their 17 home games.
- Toledo hosts Brampton on Friday, Fort Wayne on Saturday and Quad City on Sunday.
- Andrew Cerretani has seven points (3g-4a) in nine games since joining the Nailers.
- Wheeling has scored the tying goal in all five of its games that have gone to overtime.
- The Nailers visit Elmira on Friday and Saturday and Brampton on Sunday.
South Division
- Brock Higgs is tied for the league lead with nine power-play goals.
- Atlanta is tied for the league lead with six overtime wins.
- The Gladiators host Idaho on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Anthony Peters has made 11 consecutive posting an 8-2-1 record.
- The Everblades are 22-0-0 when leading after two periods.
- Florida hosts Greenville on Friday and Saturday.
- Joey Holka had a career-high three points (1g-2a) on Saturday at South Carolina.
- Greenville is 32-for-35 on the penalty kill over its last 12 games (91.4 percent).
- The Swamp Rabbits are at Florida on Friday and Saturday.
- T.J. Foster is tied for first among rookies with 15 goals.
- Orlando is 7-0-0 when scoring five or more goals.
- The Solar Bears host Manchester on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
- David Pacan has goals in four straight games and leads the club with 13 on the season.

Midwest Division
- Brett Wysopal is on a five-game point streak (1g-5a).
- The Cyclones play 11 of their next 16 games at home.

- Nathan Moon leads the IceMen with 28 points (9g-19a).
- Evansville is fourth on the power play on the road at 21.1 percent (12-for-57).
- The IceMen visit Missouri on Tuesday, Wichita on Wednesday and Indy on Friday and Saturday.
- Brock Montgomery had four points (2g-2a) in three games last week.
- The Komets have killed off 29 consecutive penalties.

- William Wrenn leads defensemen with 26 assists.
- Alaska is second with 34.24 shots per game.
- The Aces visit Colorado on Friday and Saturday.
- Trent Daavettila is second with 43 points (15g-28a).
- The Eagles are one of just two teams to have not played a shootout this season.
- Colorado hosts Utah on Wednesday and Alaska on Friday and Saturday.
- Emil Molin is tied for fourth with 27 assists.
- Idaho is 15-1-1 when leading after two periods.
- The Steelheads host Rapid City on Wednesday and are at Atlanta on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Winston Day Chief leads Rapid City with 25 points (9g-16a).
- The Rush play seven straight games, and 10 of their next 11, on the road.
- Rapid City is at Idaho on Wednesday and Utah on Friday and Saturday.
- Ryan Faragher is tied for second with 17 wins.
- Utah leads the league with 10 shorthanded goals.
