South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that Casey Kesselring has been traded to the Louisiana Ice Gators for future considerations. Kesselring played two games for the Stingrays in December, but has not played since December 21.
"Louisiana was very interested in Casey and will be able to accommodate his requirements to play," said Fitzsimmons. "We will not see the fruits of this trade until the off season, but it was nice to get something in return for Casey's rights."
Kesselring (6'-0"-185lbs) is a fifth year professional from Merrimack College who spent two seasons as a member of the Pee Dee Pride. He had 23 goals in 1999-00 with the Pride and had a career high 66 points the following season. Kesselring split his time between the Greensboro Generals and the Macon Whoopee last season. In two games with the Rays this year, he had three assists. The Stingrays suspended Kesselring in December.
The Stingrays will play at home tonight against the Columbus Cottonmouths. The team has a 6-0 record against Columbus this season, but five of the games have been decided by one goal. The team has dropped its first two games of a three game home stand.
Game time tonight is 7:00.
