Grrrowl Erase 3-1 Defecit and Post a 6-4 Win Over Pee Dee

GREENVILLE, SC – After a scoreless first period, the Greenville Grrrowl and Pee Dee Pride exchanged 3 goals apiece in the second period. Then, the Grrrowl went on to post a 6-4 victory in front of 2,626 at the BI-LO Center on Tuesday night.

Eric Naud and JOHN NAIL swapped goals in the second period to make it a 1-1 game. Then Mike Glumac and BJ Adams scored goals 1:07 apart to give Pee Dee a 3-1 lead. The Grrrowl gave the Pride a dose of their own medicine when MARTIN MASA and CHRIS LYNCH scored goals 1:32 apart to tie the game at 3-3 after 2 periods. KRZYSZTOF WIECKOWSKI gave Greenville their first lead, 4-3, at 7:18 of the third period, and TYLER DEIS scored what proved to be the game-winning goal 2:16 later as the Grrrowl opened a 5-4 lead. Greg Schmidt pulled Pee Dee within one, 5-4, at 10:37 of the third period, but an empty-net goal from MASA sealed a 6-4 win for Greenville. It was the first win for the Grrrowl over Pee Dee in 5 meetings this season.

Masa finished with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Lynch recorded 1 goal and 2 assists, and goaltender MICHAEL GARNETT stopped 30 of 34 shots for his 10th win of the season. ERIC LIND also chipped in 3 assists for the Grrrowl, who are now 2 points ahead of Columbus for the 5th and final playoff spot in the Southeast Division. The Cottonmouths lost a 6-2 decision to South Carolina on Tuesday night.

The Grrrowl travel to N. Charleston to face the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday at 7:30 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD). On Saturday, the Columbia Inferno invade the BI-LO Center for Scout Night and Alltel/Charter Communications Cap Night at 7:35 PM.
