Blades Down Sea Wolves 5-2

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (26-14-10) defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves (29-19-4) 5-2 in front of 5,388 at TECO Arena on Tuesday night. Florida netminder Rob Zepp stopped 34 of 36 shots and forward Joe Blaznek picked up a goal and an assist in the win.
The Everblades got on the board first after forward Joe Blaznek slipped the puck past former Everblade netminder Sean Matile at the 1:41 mark of the first period to make it 1-0. The Sea Wolves then struck back when forward Steffon Walby took a great pass from linemate Travis Lisabeth and fired the puck into the top corner of the net at the 15:40 mark of the period.
Florida then came right back in the second period and made it 2-1 on a goal off the stick of forward Keith Anderson at the 8:00 mark of the third period. The Everblades then made it 3-1 on a breakaway goal from forward Kevin Brown.
Florida then broke the game wide open at the 11:34 mark of the third period when defenseman Lee Ruff one timed a George Awada pass on the power play to make it 4-1. The Sea Wolves made it 4-2 late in the third period on a shorthanded goal off the stick of forward Travis Lisabeth. The Everblades then added a Tom Buckley empty net goal to seal the 5-2 victory.
Florida goaltender Rob Zepp (20-10-7) stopped 34 of 36 shots he faced while Mississippi netminder Sean Matile (8-5-0) stopped 35 of 39 shots. The Everblades were 2 for 10 on the power play while the Sea Wolves were 0 for 6.
The Everblades take on the Columbia Inferno this Thursday night in Columbia, SC. The Blades then travel to Columbus to take on the Cottonmouths on Friday and Saturday. The puck drops at 7:05 PM for all three contests. The Everblades return home to TECO Arena on Tuesday, February 18th for a rematch with the Sea Wolves at 7:30 PM.
