Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, currently in second place in the West Coast Hockey League standings, will host the San Diego Gulls on Wednesday night at Centennial Garden. This game marks the return of WB 12 and KISS 96.5 Student ID Night.

Sponsored by WB 12 and KISS 96.5, all college, high school and junior high students can buy seats in the lower level for just $1. Game time is 7:00pm and the doors open at 6:00pm. Students need to bring their official school identification and present it to the Centennial Garden Box Office.

It's also a San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District "Please Don't Light Tonight" Game. If the Condors keep their opponent from scoring, or keep them from "lighting the lamp", everyone in attendance will receive a free terrace ticket to the game on March 4th. This is the last PDLT game of the season.

Before the game, as with previous Student ID Nights, there will be a battle of the bands competition on the Garden Plaza, starting at 5:30pm. The performing bands are 10 After, Ashes, and Saveface. The bands are the remaining finalists for the season-long competition, and the winner on Wednesday will perform in the arena at a game later this season.

During the first intermission of Wednesday's game, there will be two special presentations at center ice. First, winger Christian Skoryna will be honored for his WCHL Player of the Week Award from earlier in the month. In true hockey irony, he was originally scheduled to receive the award on Sunday, but was in the locker room receiving stitches and could not accept the honor.

Following that, the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to make a presentation to the team for an award received this past weekend. The Condors were honored with the Community Service Award by the Hispanic Chamber at a ceremony Saturday night held at the Double Tree Hotel. The chamber gives only one Community Service Award annually, and the Condors were honored this year.

The Condors Coach's Show airs every Thursday on KGEO AM 1230 from 6:00-7:00pm. Join the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl, and Head Coach Paul Kelly live from the Q Street Bistro at the Holiday Inn Select. This week's guests will be star goaltender Kevin St. Pierre and defenseman Mike Marostega.

Although the team isn't playing on Friday, fans can still watch the club on Time Warner Cable Ch. 21, as another "Condors Classic" airs at 7:00pm. This week's game is a classic against the San Diego Gulls from March 29th, 2002 – a night in which Paul Rosebush recorded a hat trick. The game will also be replayed on Saturday morning at 10:00am.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.

Condors droppings: The Condors will hold the next public skate on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23rd from 1:00-3:00pm. Admission is just $7. Skate rental is available for an additional $3... The Condors are preparing to launch their first ever online real-time chat on the team's website at www.bakersfieldcondors.com. A poll is being taken on the site right now, inviting fans to vote for the player who will be featured. Log on and place your vote.
